Rooted in my Sicilian ancestry, my family’s history in New Orleans serves as the core of my novels. Their tales, steeped in rich traditions, enduring family bonds, and dramatic upheavals, deeply influence my narratives. Through my historical fiction, I pay tribute to their struggles and victories, while weaving my own imaginative thread into the rich tapestry of our shared heritage. A Song for Bellafortuna, Saving the Music, and Sicilian Melody
Explore the captivating Bellafortuna Series, a rich, multigenerational saga set in the quaint Sicilian village of Bellafortuna, Sicily. Each installment of this historical fiction series delves into the lives, traditions, and challenges faced by Bellafortuna’s people — weaving tales of love, sacrifice, renewal, and the indomitable human spirit.
In A Song for Bellafortuna, thorough research shines a light on the struggles of a small community in the 19th century, as they confront poverty, injustice, and social upheaval. Saving the Music follows with a gripping account of villagers’ courageous efforts to shelter Jewish musicians when called upon by the Vatican during World War II. Finally, in Sicilian Melody, the trilogy reaches its climax as it weaves together generations of love, sacrifice, and renewal; the Mafia rises from the ashes of war, and the community discovers hope and unity as it forges a new future.

Rich research: My exploration of Sicilian customs, local agriculture, and politics has been crucial in bringing the world of Bellafortuna to life.
Family inspiration: The characters Antonio and Giuseppe Sanguinetti are deeply influenced by stories shared by my grandfather and father.
Fiction rooted in reality: While Bellafortuna is a fictional town, it draws its essence from the real town of Noto, Sicily. This series by Vincent LoCoco captures the heart and soul of Sicilian culture.

This was my first novel, a true labor of love, and the inaugural installment of the Bellafortuna Series. Tempesta’s Dream delves into the passionate world of Italian opera, following Giovanni Tempesta, a gifted tenor struggling to find his voice amidst doubt and tradition. Set against the grandeur of La Scala and the vibrant opera culture of Milan, this historical fiction piece reveals the emotional and artistic battles that define a performer’s journey.

Operatic authenticity: I immersed myself in La Scala, tenor dynamics, and vocal artistry to bring rich, emotional depth to the story.
Struggles of an artist: Giovanni Tempesta embodies the doubts, triumphs, and rigid structures that opera singers face in a competitive world.
Verdi’s legacy: The nursing home for retired musicians in Milan is based on Casa Verdi, a real refuge founded by Giuseppe Verdi. I, Vincent LoCoco, hoped to capture the essence of this legacy in the narrative.

Centered on 1920s New Orleans jazz and the chilling real-life figure known as the 'Axman,' The Devil’s Jazz, part of the Bellafortuna Series, delves into how Sicilian immigrants, including the powerful protagonist Giancarlo Rabito, navigated fear, ambition, and cultural blend in a volatile era.
